Butt Kicks - A Warm-Up Exercise for Martial Arts Students

This page provides details for a warm-up exercise known as Butt Kicks. This warm-up exercise is used by martial arts students in order to warm up their legs and to stretch their calves and hamstrings. It is also a good dynamic stretch.

All exercises and stretches should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized.

Written Instructions for Butt Kicks

  • In this exercise, you run forward at a modest pace or jog in place.
  • As you run, you try to touch (kick) your glutes (butt) with the heel of your feet.
