Cane Self-Defense Technique - Hooking Techniques

This page provides details about hooking techniques used in self-defense situations with a cane. While a cane can act like a short staff (i.e. Jo staff), it also has the benefit of its hook. The cane's hook allows martial artists to trip, trap or choke an attacker.

Canes have an advantage over many other traditional martial arts weapons because they can be legally carried on the street (because they are seen as tools to assist people with walking).

For other cane-based techniques, visit the main Cane Self-Defense Techniques section.
