This calf stretch involves standing near a wall and placing your foot on the bottom of the wall. This stretch is also often used as a plantar fasciitis stretch. Plantar fasciitis is a painful foot condition caused by the inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot. Plantar fasciitis pain can occur due to the kicking, rapid movements and jumping involved in martial arts training. All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained martial arts instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized.
