Knee Circles

Knee Circles – Warm-Up Exercise

This page provides information on knee circles. This is a stretching and warm-up exercise used in many martial arts schools in order to target the muscles & tendons surrounding the knee. Knee circles are also know as knee rotations.

In this knee stretch or exercise, a martial artist will bend their knees. They will place their hands on their knees. The martial artist will then usually rotate their knees 10-20 times to the right (clockwise) and then 10-20 times to the left (counter clockwise).

Before any training session, martial artists should stretch and warm-up. All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained martial arts instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. If you have had an injury or are in pain, please see a doctor before starting any stretching or exercise program. For additional flexibility exercises & stretches, please visit the wiki section on Martial Arts Stretches.
