Kobu Nicho Gama - Kama Kata

This page provides details for the kama kata known as Kobu Nicho Gama. This is a weapons-based kata used in Karate focused on the small scythe-like weapon known as a kama.

Written Instructions

  • Bow with kamas in left hand
  • Present kamas - Hold straight out, grab one with right hand, circle up and down to parallel stance
  • Turn head to left, left outwards block, right step w/ strike down
  • Turn head to right, right outwards block, left step w/ strike down
  • Left outside block to front, left hook around neck, right step w/ strike down
  • Slide to right, right neck hook, left step w/ strike down
  • Slide to left, left neck hook, right step w/ strike down
