Instructions for the One Legged Squat Reach - Martial Arts Balance Training

This page provides details for the "One Legged Squat Reach". This is an exercise used to improve the balance of martial arts students. It is also used to strengthen the calf, core and glute muscles. All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized.

Instructions for One Legged Squat Reach Exercise

  • Stand on one leg with your knee slightly bent.
  • Raise your other leg modestly off the ground.
  • With the hand opposite your standing leg, reach down to the opposite side of your body and touch the ground.
  • Repeat this balance exercise by standing on your other leg.
