Reverse Shoulder Stretch

Reverse Shoulder Stretch

This page provides details for the Reverse Shoulder Stretch. This shoulder, upper back and chest stretch is useful for martial artists that utilize grappling techniques and/or utilize multiple drills focused on punches.

In this stretch, you will place your hands behind your back and put your hands together. You will slowly raise your hands towards your shoulders in order to loosen your upper body muscles.

All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. For additional shoulder stretches (i.e. arm circles or doorway shoulder stretch), please visit the page on shoulder stretches. For information on other stretches (i.e. hamstring or triceps stretches), please visit the main Martial Arts Stretching section.
