Shotokan Kaeshi Ippon Kumite - One-Step Sparring Drills

This page looks at Kaeshi Ippon Kumite used in Shotokan Karate. This is a kumite drill where the initial counter attack is blocked and countered. This is a one-step sparring drill. This drill can employ a wide variety of counter attacks.

One-step sparring drills are pre-arranged attack and/or counter-attack sequences used to train students before they progress to free style (unscripted) sparring. For other kumite techniques, please visit the main Shotokan Kumite section.
