Skater Jumps or Ice Skaters - Martial Arts Plyometrics Exercise
This page provides details on "Skater Jumps" or "Ice Skaters". This plyometrics exercise will increase your leg strength and thus will help you to generate stronger martial arts kicks. In addition, skater jumps will improve your overall martial arts agility. This will help your sparring because it will improve your ability to evade an opponent. Moreover, it will improve your ability to quickly move diagonally into position in order to launch a counterattack. Some martial artists use a weight with this exercise but be aware that this can put too much pressure on your knees and can cause injuries.
All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained martial arts instructor to ensure the proper technique is being utilized and to avoid potential injuries. For additional stretches and exercises, please visit the main Physical Fitness section.
