Superman Elbow Strike

This page provides details about the Superman Elbow Strike. This is an advanced flying variation of the traditional forward elbow strike used by most martial arts (i.e. Muay Thai, Karate, Krav Maga, etc.). This technique is an elbow strike version of the Superman Punch.

The flying jump in this elbow strike is used in order to gain greater momentum and power as a martial artist strikes an opponent. Of course, this flashy technique has the disadvantage of being off the ground (and thus it is difficult to change direction if the target has moved). A martial artist also needs to get very close to an opponent in order to land the elbow strike. This puts the martial artist in range of the opponent's punching or kicking counterattacks before he/she can land this flying elbow strike.

For information on other elbow strikes (i.e. spinning elbow strike), please visit the main Elbow Strikes section.
