Combat Hapkido

Combat Hapkido is an American martial arts created by John Pelligrini in 1990. This martial arts is seen as spin-off from the traditional Korean martial arts of Hapkido. However, Combat Hapkido adds a greater training focus on self-defense and grappling techniques.

Description of Combat Hapkido

According to the International Combat Hapkido Federation (ICHF), Combat Hapkido is a “versatile discipline of self-protection that includes an extensive variety of strikes, kicks, joint locks, pressure points, ground survival and disarming techniques. The result is a practical, comprehensive Self Defense system that is enjoyable to learn and truly effective in realistic situations.” In addition, the ICHF states that in “March 1999, Combat Hapkido (Chon-Tu Kwan Hapkido) was officially registered and accredited as a legitimate “Kwan” of Hapkido by the World Ki-Do Federation (recognized by the Korean Government).”
