Jumping Back Kick – Martial Arts Technique

This page provides details on the martial arts jumping back kick. This is a more advanced version of the traditional back kick. For information on other martial arts kicks (i.e. spinning hook kick), please visit Black Belt Wiki’s main kicking techniques page.

The jumping back kick is useful in sparring because it is often used as a counter kick to offset an opponent’s attack. In Karate, a jumping back kick is known as Tobi Ushiro Geri. In Taekwondo, it is known as Eeadan Dwi Chagi. An even more advanced version of this kick is the Flying Back Kick.

Martial arts kicks and all other martial arts techniques should only be practiced under the supervision of a trained martial arts instructor in order to prevent injuries and to ensure the proper technique is utilized. In addition, all martial arts techniques and training should be used safely and responsibly.
