Two Finger Poke - Martial Arts Self-Defense Technique

This page provides details for the two finger poke (or two finger strike). This self-defense technique is a traditional two finger poke used by many martial arts styles. However, it is most associated with Three Stooges comedies. A stronger reinforced variation of this technique is the four finger poke.

This strike is an effective self-defense weapon for close combat, esp. if a person is trapped by a stronger opponent or if the person has long finger nails. This technique is often used by women in order to escape an attacker (i.e. rapist). The two finger poke is most often used against an attacker's eyes.

In Karate, this striking technique is known as Nihon Nukite or Two Finger Spear. For other martial arts punches & strikes, please visit the main Punches & Strikes section.
