This page provides on the Karate kicking technique known as Ura Ushiro Mawashi Geri (or Spinning Heel Kick). This Karate kick is also known as a spinning hook kick, spinning wheel kick, etc. In Japanese, it is also known as Ushiro Ura Mawashi Geri.

This is not a traditional kick in many Karate schools. Nevertheless, the spinning heel kick is a powerful kick given the momentum behind the spin and the hard bone of the heel. It has been used for knockouts in Kyokushin tournaments.
