Instructions for the X-Guard Technique

This page provides details on how to do the X-Guard and how to utilize this technique in various attacks and submissions. The X-Guard is a grappling technique where a person on the ground can attack and sweep a standing opponent. This technique is used in martial arts systems such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. As you learn to utilize this maneuver, you should also study X-Guard Sweeps.

All grappling techniques are potentially dangerous and should only be practiced under the supervision of a trained martial arts instructor.
