Lateral Box Jumps – Plyometrics Exercise

This page will teach you how to do Lateral Box Jumps. This plyometrics exercise will increase your leg strength and thus will help you to generate stronger martial arts kicks. Moreover, Lateral Box Jumps will improve your overall martial arts agility.

Instead of using a plyometric box, many martial arts schools often use a stack of kicking shields in order to perform lateral box jumps and other jumping plyometric exercise. Kicking shields tend to be more available at a martial arts schools and they are “softer” than wooden or plastic plyo boxes.

All stretches and exercises should be supervised by a trained martial arts instructor to ensure the proper technique is being utilized and to avoid potential injuries. For additional stretches and exercises, please visit the main Conditioning and Strength Training sections.
